What Byte Pad is
Byte Pad is a free online calculator site. It holds 354 working calculators spread across 19 categories, and every one of them is usable without an account, a payment or an install. You open a page, type your numbers into labelled fields, and read the result.
The site exists because most calculations people actually need during a working day are short and repetitive: a material quantity, a yield percentage, a shipping weight, a cost per unit. Byte Pad keeps those in one place and shows the arithmetic behind each answer instead of hiding it.

How each calculator is built
One narrow question per page
Each page answers a single question. A page about slab quantities does not also try to cover structural design, and a page about bandwidth does not drift into network planning.
The formula and the units are published on the page
Every calculator sits next to a Formula and Logic section that states which equation produced the result and which unit each input expects. If you want to check the number by hand, the working is on the same screen.
The caveats are published too
The same pages carry a Practical Notes section and a short FAQ describing the cases the formula does not handle, so you can judge when the answer is only part of the picture.
Where a formula comes from a code or standard, the page says so
Some of these calculations reference published codes and standard conventions, and those pages name them. Many others are simply arithmetic, such as a unit conversion or an area and volume calculation. A conversion factor is arithmetic, not a citation, and the pages do not pretend otherwise.
Who writes this
Byte Pad is written and maintained by Ansel Reed, a working name used by the person who builds and edits these pages. He writes the formula notes, sets the default values each calculator starts from, and revises a page when a reader reports a result that does not match their own working.
He is not a licensed accountant, financial adviser, attorney, physician, engineer or any other kind of licensed professional, and Byte Pad does not offer professional services of any kind. The site is a set of arithmetic tools, not an advisory practice.

The output of a Byte Pad calculator is calculated from the numbers you type in. We do not verify those numbers, and reference rates, thresholds, prices and standards quoted on a page can change over time and differ between regions and jurisdictions.

If a calculator returns something you believe is wrong, send the tool name, the values you entered and the result you expected through the contact page. Corrections are applied to the live page. Questions and corrections are handled by the same person who writes the pages.
